Bird Walk (13/11/2011)

Join ornithologist Terry Munro for an early morning walk to observe and hear some of the many birds that call Mount Majura and Mount Ainslie home.
Bring sun protection, sturdy shoes, binoculars, if you have them and a gold coin for a species list and a pocket guide.

Fireweed Alert

Madagascan Fireweed, Senecio madagascariensis is a serious weed of grasslands and grassy woodlands (grazed and un-grazed). It has been recently found on the Monaro Highway close to the ACT border and on a paddock abutting Antill Street in Watson. It was most likely introduced with fodder.

FoMM Submission: Draft ACT Pest Animal Managment Strategy 2011-2021 (29.09.2011)

The ACT Government, Environment abd Sustainable Development Directorate, invited input from the public on the Draft ACT Pest Animal Management Strategy. The Draft Strategy is available at http://www.environment.act.gov.au/environment/pams
FoMM submitted that the Government should

develop leadership in the management of introduced and overabundant grazing and browsing animal species at landscape scale,
secure investments by ongoing follow-up and maintenance [...]
