Great Vinca Bash (01/09/2013)

Welcome in the first day of Spring by helping to remove Vinca (Periwinkle) close to (west of) the 2008 National Tree Day planting site at the Old Ainslie Tip.

Blue Periwinkle, Vinca major invades gullies and moist sites from dumped garden refuse.

Join our fellow ParkCare group, the Mt Ainslie Weeders for a fun morning to pull out a huge patch of Periwinkle that has escaped from gardens and gone feral in the Nature Reserve.

Meet old friends, enjoy a mug of delicious soup made by Ainslie grandmas, and win one of five great LUCKY SPOT prizes donated by Pulp Kitchen, Restaurant 2602, Edgars, Ainslie IGA and Wine Shop, and the Ainslie Newsagency – or maybe crack the booby prize! Lucky you!

Vinca is quite easy to pull or dig out, and it will be very satisfying to see the huge patch diminish in size as we work.
