National Tree Day 2019 Planting @ The Fair

The Friends of Mount Majura (FoMM) ParkCare group will be hosting a small National Tree Day planting on Sunday 28 July. Join in and help to transform a weedy degraded area next door to The Fair in North Watson into a grassy woodland home for native wildlife. This year we will be planting, watering in and mulching 100 local plants; please come early for the introduction and a chance to plant.

When: Sunday 28 July 2019, from 1.00pm to 4.00pm;
Volunteer registration
opens at 12.45pm;
Where: Mount Majura nature reserve behind The Fair in North Watson; click on this map to view the planting area and the volunteer registration point;
Access park entrance intersection Tay St / Ian Nicol St close to the volunteer registration point or via nature park entrance Antill St roughly opposite Carotel for a 5-10 minutes walk to the planting site.
Car parking: along Antill Street opposite of Carotel; limited car parking space at The Fair and along Aspinall Street / Solstice.
Wear: Garden gloves, appropriate clothing and shoes, wrap up warmly.
Bring: A trowel or a small mattock if you have one; please label your items with your phone number so that we can reunite any left-behinds with the owner.
Enjoy Timtams, cakes and hot drinks during the event.

This year’s event will be the 7th stage of an ambitious community planting project in the nature park east of The Fair that began in 2012.

National Tree Day is held annually by Planet Ark which runs the Australian wide project to encourage mass tree plantings and to communicate the merit of trees.
