Where the wombat roams….*
Friends of Mt Majura (FoMM) will host another mulching session around the Hackett water tank.
Come along, push a wheelbarrow, or carry buckets and warm up spreading mulch on top of previously treated Chilean Needle Grass.
When: Sunday, 19th July, from 1pm to 4 pm

Bring: Body covering garden clothing, drinking water; we provide the tools and equipment and a delicious cake for afternoon tea.

This is a family friendly working party; no experience necessary.
In the past three years, Friends of Mt Majura volunteers and contractors treated most of the Chilean Needle Grass CNG in the area with herbicide. Volunteers also removed CNG tussocks manually and two years ago began to replant and reseed with native grass and other ground-cover plants at some of the earliest treated sites.
*Over the past two months a young wombat left its signs around the drainage line and in the ditch. It must be a young wombat given the size of the poo pellets and their random distribution compared to the orderly marking of a territory by a careful placement of one or two pellets on a rock or log. Unfortunately, wildlife camera observations during several nights revealed only cats and foxes… The wombat was most likely released from human care. We hope it will find its way around and survive.
